Lijiang Yunnan, China Travel Guide

Lijiang boasts spectacular natural scenery varying from snowy mountains and highland glacial lakes to majestic canyons, making it a great place for outdoor activity lovers.
DAY 1
Lijiang Ancient City
Lijiang Ancient City is also called Dayan Ancient City. 
Picturesque streets wind through the city alongside small rivers and narrow canals, criss-crossed by over 300 ancient stone bridges. 
 
Green trees, colorful shrubs, old alleyways and antique houses make Lijiang Ancient City a classic and unique ancient water town, against a stunning backdrop of mountains and high plateaux.

Tibetan Road Restaurant 
 
Wild Mushroom Hotpot is a must-try here. Mushroom booth that you can cook everything  in hotpot style, with delicious lamb, beef and vegetables. 
 
A combination that is so simple and magical: Steamboat + Barbecue.
 
Love these wild mushrooms so much as the texture was so chewy and good. 
 
Barbeque always pairs well with beer! 
 
Xiao Shi Guang 
 
Located in the old town of Lijiang. This Lok-lok-Style Dip Pot Mala is so good! 
Sunny Days Bar 
 
One of the hidden bars in Lijiang. 
 
DAY 2
 
Lashi Sea 
Despite being called Lashihai (Hai means sea), it is actually a lake cut off by Lashi Dam. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Different from the tall and big horses on the grassland, the horses in Yunnan are small, but good at long-distance transporting. Consequently, it may feel different during the ride.
 
Visitors will pass some Naxi villages, virgin forest, the Beauty Spring (Mei Quan), the Holy Well Source, the Cliff Dying for Love and the Seven Fairies Lake.
 
 
Beauty Spring & Holy Well Source & Seven Fairies Lake
The water in Beauty Spring, the Holy Well Source and the Seven Fairies Lake is the melted snow from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The Holy Well Source is a holy place for Naxi people’s sacrifice. The Seven Fairies Lake is the end of the current tea-horse road. This lake is the source of Beauty Spring and Holy Well Source, as well as the water source of Lijiang Ancient Town. The water flows to this lake and then separates into different branches to Lashi Lake and Lijiang.
 
 
Enjoying the Ancient Tea Horse Road 
Riding to experience the Ancient Tea and Horse Road is the other must-try activity to get close to the local special culture. 
 
Zhao Xiong Ge Huo Tang Ji
 
Indeed a great and affordable lunch place to stop by. Eight dishes which comes with rice and soup cost at RMB320 nett only. Indeed very filling and worth it. 
 Guan Yin Gorge 
Guam Yin Gorge is one comprehensive scenic area that has gathered together natural landscapes like the mountains and waters, blue-water lake, deep gorge, spectacular waterfall and thick forest and thick forests and many historical spots merging into one organic whole. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
A glass plank road that is built over the Shuanglong Pool and is 230 meters long, 230 meters high and 1.5 meters wide.

Genuine Mengzi Cross-Bridge Noodles




The most traditional one, many small dishes that you need to put into the hot noodle. Put the egg into the bowl first then other dishes. 
 
 
DAY 3
 
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain 
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the most southerly snowcapped mountain in the Northern Hemisphere. It is famous for its variant and beautiful natural scenes, and is considered a sacred mountain among the local Naxi ethnic people. It is also a popular hiking destination.
 
The mountain is always covered with snow and fog, so that it resembles a silver-white dragon from a distance, hence its name. 
 
 
 
 
  
 
 
This is the most popular cableway in the scenic area. It is one of the highest elevation cableways in China. This cableway can take you up to experience the glacier and its surroundings.
 
 
Be well prepared with thick gloves and warm clothing to overcome the freezing temperature at the top of the mountain. 
 
Blue Moon Valley 

 

Crystal clear lake and waterfall with snow mountain behind.
 







It is all included in the package when you bought ticket to the Jade Dragon mountain. Take the bus from the ticketing office to come here as it is of different route from the cable car going up the mountain.

Xue Hua Can Ting

The popular restaurant for lunch after the exhausting journey up to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. 
Back To Lijiang Old Town for dinner! You will get to find few street food markets here too!

DAY 4
Black Dragon Pool 
Black Dragon Pool is the landmark of Lijiang. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
It’s surroundings are all green with grass and shaded by swaying willow trees. 
 
Shuhe Ancient Town
 
Shuhe Ancient Town has listed it as an important component of Lijiang as it is a well-preserved example of a town along the ancient tea route and one of the earliest settlements of the ancestors of Naxi people. It is called ‘the hometown of springs’.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Ji Dou Liang Fen
One of the local signature dishes that should not be missed out. 
  
Tai Gu Chen Can Ba
 
Hand shredded cabbage 
One of my all time favorite China dishes. 
 
Cu Cha Tan Fan
 
A very famous restaurant in Shuhe Ancient Village. A great place to savour some local delicacies. Don’t forget to try out their “Na Xi Kao Rou”! 
Ancient Tea Horse Road Museum
 
 
Some historic information about ancient tea trade. 
 
 
 
Long Pool & Sansheng Palace
  
 
There is a deep pool at the end of the street, called Long Pool (Dragon Pool), from which the overflowing water winds through the village, and the bubbling sound can be heard miles away.

This restaurant is famous for its frozen raw salmon.
