Nara Travel Guide

Nara is one of the famous city in Japan where its tame deers roaming freely around the city. Nara is the perfect day trip from Kyoto. It’s a great time to visit Nara during winter time if you like peace and quiet.

Nara Park

The walk is long, scenic and filled with lots of hungry deers! It was very cute seeing the deer in the park wandering around freely and being able to feed them. It did get pretty scary when some of them got really desperate and started chasing after whoever fed them and gave them a nudge if they didn’t feed them.

Todai-ji

It’s a huge wooden temple with an enormous statue of Buddha sitting inside an equally massive lotus flowers.

麺屋あまのじゃく JR奈

This is probably the best ramen I’ve ever had. I would go back to Nara, just for this bowl of tonkatsu ramen. The tonkatsu broth was amazingly rich.

Chami

A nice coffee shop to stop by especially if you’re planning to visit Nara Park. Each of Chami’s coffee selections is brewed at the specific temperature of °Celsius to bring out their coffee’s unique characteristic and taste profiles.

Tian Ji Tang

The signature dessert in this shop is Kudzu Mochi. It’s a pudding-like arrowroot starch cake and it’s made upon order. It’s warm inside but it was too starchy for my liking.

Okaru

One of the best okonomiyakis I’ve eaten. A variety of toppings to choose from. Don’t forget to try out their omelette balls too!
